Why you should think about a career in marketing

According to The Independent, almost half of all the UK’s employees will be on the hunt for a new job in 2016.

The reasons are varied – career profession, increased wages and better training being just a few.

If you’re considering pastures new, why not try a career in marketing? It’s a rewarding industry to be a part of and there are countless benefits – just a few of which are below.

Unleash your inner creativity

Creativity is a big asset in any part of a business, but marketing jobs in particular require you to think outside the box. From inception to promotion, a product needs to be presented to the public in a way which captivates its target market and, ultimately, convinces them to buy. Marketing jobs and design jobs are no place for the same-old.

Aim for the top

The sky really is the limit when it comes to marketing jobs. Even the most junior executive can, with the right attitude, rapidly climb the ladder. And after some career progression, senior marketing professionals can find themselves sitting in company boardrooms on six and sometimes even seven-figure salaries.

Go global and see the world

The way we work is changing. Globalisation means it’s easier than ever for companies to expand into new markets – and they need staff on the ground to help them do that. So if you love to travel and aspire to move abroad, marketing jobs are the ideal choice for you.

Build on your existing skills

Unlike disciplines like medicine or engineering, marketing jobs don’t require years and years of study (though professional qualifications from bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing or Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing are recommended).

If you’re good with design, you love to write or you can spot trends that others can’t, you’re already in a great position for a career in marketing.

It’s a growth industry

As long as a business sells a product, it needs marketers to find ways to sell it. You can be safe in the knowledge that whatever happens, you’ll have much better job security than you might in many other industries.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, consider making the transition to a marketing job.
