Salary: £45,000—55,000 + benefits. Location: Gloucestershire (Permanent). Reference BBBH1323
We are currently seeking a results driven Head of Purchasing to join our dynamic and innovative client based in South Gloucestershire to take the lead within their procurement department. The role is on offer for a salary of £45 – 55K (DOE) and will involve some travel.
The key purpose of the role will be to ensure the purchase of best quality goods at the most competitive prices for the company. This will involve developing and delivering appropriate strategies for key suppliers/commodities, ensuring a sustainable and balanced supply base whilst understanding and keeping to the company’s ethical standards. It will also involve the effective running of the department including conducting annual reviews and setting KPIs, taking responsibility for the design and development of all functional consumer facing packaging, setting and operating a budget for the department and deliver on targeted savings. Further responsibilities include working in conjunction with other departments and managers to deliver effective forecasting and to attend regular management meetings.
Skills, experience and aptitude required:
*Degree Educated
*5 years purchasing experience of leading and managing a purchasing team
*Commercial acuteness
*Market Awareness – Key Categories, Poultry, Fish, Meat, Packaging.
*Computer skills – Advanced level of Excel and basic understanding of databases and Sage
*Being able to develop and maintain a strong network of contacts
*Willingness to travel
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, organised and methodical, a self- starter with an analytical mindset and good maths/stats skills. We’ll also be looking for strong problem solving skills as well as a drive to succeed with self-assurance and strong negotiation skills.
