We are currently seeking a technically skilled yet commercially minded Database Manager/Engineer to join our customer-centric, service led, financial services client based in Oxfordshire. On offer is a salary of £40 – 50K plus a company car and benefits.

The successful candidate will require a commercial focus, an inquisitive and analytical mind-set and strong communication skills to drive and manage change and help the business fully realise the potential of its data. We will be looking for someone who is well organized, with a hands on approach and a blend of strong technical and leadership skills and the ability to demonstrate the consistent delivery of development and BAU projects.
The role:
With a focus on facilitating the growth of the business through the better application of data the Database Manager will be responsible for designing and helping to develop the data and database infrastructure and supporting toolset. This will include the provision of database/admin tools (alongside IT), marketing /analytics tools (such as Apteco FastStats), reporting tools (e.g. Tableau), CRM and marketing automation tools. You will also be required to help consolidate and marshal a considerable wealth of data from the branch network, other businesses and brands (including ongoing acquisitions), key internal and external systems, and third party data suppliers. Furthermore it will involve the management of the storage, transfer and access to core company data, the structuring of data to support the definition and execution of analytical projects (such as segmentation), as well as identifying new opportunities to better exploit the existing data and keeping abreast of data/technology developments in order to best advise the business of emerging opportunities or threats.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
1)Extensive experience in the development and use of databases, preferably in a direct marketing environment.
2)Extensive experience with MS SQL Server and associated database technologies and tools.
3)The ability to programme and write scripts to support data processing and manipulation.
4)Experience of marketing analytics tools such as Apteco FastStats.
5)Experience of integrating with CRM tools, marketing automation and campaign management systems, email platforms and other in-house or third party systems.
6)Experience of working with reporting / BI tools such as Tableau or QlikView
7)Experience in consolidating and deduplicating complex customer data sets – preferably for businesses within insurance / financial service or with renewal / subscription based business models.
8)Experience of working with multi-product / multi-channel consumer businesses, preferably within a retail or branch based network environment.
9)A good understanding of database profiling and segmentation within a commercial environment.
10)Experience of working with and managing external data, technology, or service suppliers.
11)A solid understanding of data protection and security principles.
12)An eye for detail and consistency, with a pragmatic and healthy obsession with QA.
13)Effective communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
14)A good relevant computer related degree or higher education course from a recognised university or institution.
15)A full UK driving licence.
