Digital marketing trends you should know

Every year, in fact every month, is different in digital marketing. New trends and new algorithms to work around mean that ours is a fast moving industry where only those with the latest knowledge and skills rise to the top.

This means that if you’re looking for a new digital marketing job, you need to know the key trends which will not only impress your potential employer but will help you make a difference in your new office.

Always make sure you check out the latest marketing news before your interview so you can talk about new trends, and make sure you know what digital marketing activity your prospective employer is using.

1. Video advertising

You’re already aware of the potency of video advertising and you’re probably in on the fact that sponsored posts which feature video footage will always do better than those with simple text. Adding to this is the news that Google will be offering video content within their SERPS. When you factor in YouTube, which of course they own, 2016 is going to be the year when video goes stratospheric.

2. Live streaming

Anyone following celebrity culture will know that when a celeb goes live, their page goes bonkers. Periscope started trading on this since Twitter launched it but with other platforms expected to launch live streaming, it makes sense for small and large businesses to start adding their own live streams where they can talk direct to customers and build up relationships.

3. Virtual reality

Car manufacturers and games consoles are already seeing that the ability to immerse would-be customers into their products has dynamic effects, and with more technology being launched this is the time when other businesses can take VR and use it as a way to market their products.

4. Automation

While your marketing might go personal and individual, the technology exists to allow you to automate processes such as email and newsletters; to the point that these can be sent automatically whenever a customer makes an enquiry.
